Welcome!

Because Barack Obama has pledged to give us change, maybe we could all spare a little of our own to help him take back the White House. I'm sure many of you have plenty of great suggestions about ways to find and collect change and how to convert it to a form that you can mail to the campaign. I urge you to send me all your ideas and I'll post 'em straight away. I also encourage you to send me your photos of your efforts.

Welcome to "Change for Obama"!

This morning I looked at the jar of change by my bedside and had an idea. Because Barack Obama has pledged to give us change, maybe we could all spare a little of our own to help him take back the White House. He's going to need every dime to fight the Karl Rovian mud fight that's about to break out.

To kick it off, here are some some suggestions:

Find a change machine OR get some .01-cent, nickel, dime and quarter rollers
from your local bank or credit union.
Rolling change can be tedious and let's face it, not much fun.
BUT if you invite all your friends over for a
change-rolling party,
that could be a blast.

(If you do this, please send me photos.)
If you prepare your change this way, more of they money will go to the campaign (change-converting machines often take a percentage--however, my credit union makes their machine available free to their members.
Check with your own credit union or ask a friend.

Trade your earnings for a casher's check, personal check or money order (I need to make sure the campaign accepts money in this form. Stay tuned.) Or deposit it in your bank account and write your own personal check. The campaign accepts credit card donations online.

See a penny, pick it up.
I heard a story on NPR about a family who picks up change from sidewalks wherever they go. In a year, they've earned hundreds (and maybe thousands, I can't remember right off) of bucks. Challenge your friends to do the same.
Look for the silver!
